The Kinsol Trestle is one of the tallest free-standing and most spectacular timber rail trestle structures in the world. At 187 metres in length and standing 44 metres above the salmon bearing Koksilah River, the Kinsol is an incredible structure.
Lot's of pictures here!
This trail offers so much to see and truly one of my favourite rides (Colleen- Owner). Trail is easy, flat offering shade and sunny patches along route. Ponds filled with wild life, ducks, geese, beavers, migrating tree frogs, eagles, raptors of all sorts. Wonderful little wooden bridges span over tiny little creeks. The forest surrounds, opening to meadows. This is a dedicated trail, no cars (small farm access one area) flat.
Did I mention flat? Very easy ride for all skill levels.

We'll stop somewhere along trail when the urge hits us for lunch. Lunch offers all sorts of yummy and filling good food.
Treat at the end of our ride. Flight of local wines to taste before we head over to the local swimming hole.
While sipping our wine let's chat about all the fun things we did and seen along the trail.
Get ready for the swimming hole next stop.
Optional swim of course, but in August it's often a welcome treat.
Our hotel is rated 3 star and right on the waters edge. They offer a pool and next door a pub, easy crawl back to your room.
So many great little artisan shops in this seaside village
Skultz Falls
Skutz Falls is a waterfall on the Cowichan River on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is located just above Marie Canyon. The name was originally Skwets or Squitz, meaning "waterfall" in the Cowichan dialect of Halkomelem.
After a dusty trail ride, we float down the Cowichan River. End of ride let's hit the local pub for libations and snacks before we say goodbye today.
Please reach us at colleen@islandtimetours.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You certainly can bring your own bike. Discount of $60 will be applied to tour price listed. Bring a bike or rent a bike, we have costs to carry and transport bikes, shared between 10 people.
We have limited space for Fat tire bikes, front baskets etc. Panniers (bike bags) must be removable for transportation.
No. This trail is mostly flat with few hills, easily walkable. Though we would suggest a speed bike with few speed options. Again, limited space for Fat tire bikes, and all accessories like bike bags must be removable.
Yes, easy peasy, you'll be riding in 5 minutes with a big smile on your face. No worries there. Though, if still unsure, we're happy to take the time for you to become familiar with your bike and feel safe. You MUST be able to ride a bike though.
No worries, we have your back. Anytime you've had enough for any reason. We will have our broom Van near to sweep you and your bike up. You may have to ride to road opening nearest to connect off trail. Load bike and you, we'll meet you at our next stop.
We have waivers for all to sign prior to departing. Insurance requires all riders must wear helmets and no alcohol while riding bikes. Those renting bikes will be required to sign rental agreements, bring ID and credit card, while we pay rentals, you are responsible to care for your bike. Hotel check-in will require ID and credit card for incidentals.
Emergency contact form also required for each rider.
You don't need fancy bike cloths but stretchy pants or shorts do make riding more comfortable. We are not the fashion police however we do recommend not wearing denim while riding, trust us on this. Keep your luggage to flexible small small small did we mention SMALL. Storage space is limited. (not hard case luggage with wheels etc) Remember we have 12 ladies, 12 bikes, 12 helmets to store first! AND it's only one night ladies :)
If you're currently an Ebike rider distance is not a concern. However newbies you will find your bum will give out far before your legs.
Rides will vary daily first day approx. 15KM, day to enjoy nature, swimming and just being outside.
Next day approx. 25 km followed by lazy river tubing to wash the trail dus off.
You will have to walk your bike to a connecting road to meet up with van if riding not your thing today.

Covid protocols have eased, we would be happy to connect you with another single on tour, with their permission. We would suggest chatting and getting to know each other before deciding if this would be a fit for both of you. You may just meet a new life long pal.
