Meet at the Hotel Grand Pacific where our office is (we'll be ready for you in the front of the hotel driveway)
Let's load our gear and head out to Langford (Luxton) where our ride begins.
The trail was created in 1987 after the rail line was abandoned and the tracks were removed.
A portion of the trail is also part of the Trans Canada Trail. The name of the trail (Galloping Goose) is based on the nickname of a gas-powered railcar that operated on the line in the 1920s.
Our first section of the ride is ~20Km, arriving into Sooke, here we will have lunch.
Along the trail we have so many great places to stop and take in the experience.
Forests, meadows, lakes, flora and fauna
After lunch we ride to Leechtown and back, 15 km each way. The return trip is slightly downhill easy 2% grade makes for quick, easy return.

This picturesque multi-use trail, formerly a railway line, moves through urban, rural and wilderness scenery. Easy flat trail with a couple of small hills, you can do it!
After our days ride we check into our ocean front hotel in Sooke.
Leechtown is a ghost town on the Southern end of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
On 18 July 1864 the Leech River was named and ‘payable’ gold was discovered by members of the Vancouver Island Exploring Expedition (VIEE), which led to a gold rush and the establishment of Leechtown. Now a park with no hints of the past.
We depart after an early breakfast at our hotel.
Our ride starts today at the
Shawnigan Lake trail, destination
Cowichan Lake. ~50km
So many great sights along the way.
We'll stop mid way for a picnic lunch.
Trestles, ponds, wildlife, water falls and more.
The Kinsol Trestle is one of eight trestles along the Cowichan Valley Trail route and by far the largest and most spectacular. The Kinsol Trestle is one of the tallest free-standing and most spectacular timber rail trestle structures in the world. At 187 metres in length and standing 44 metres above the salmon bearing Koksilah River, the Kinsol is an incredible structure.
This trail is super flat and filled with so much beauty on a dedicated trail.
Past rides we've come across Beavers,
Tadpole hatching, Tree frog migrations and so much more.
We'll have a picnic lunch along the trail when the mood takes us.
Skultz Falls
Another great stop to explore on route to Cowichan Lake.
Skutz Falls offers magnificent views of river rapids and a man-made fish ladder
After our day's ride we load up for tonights oceanfront hotel in Parksville.
We quickly check into our rooms, grab our bathing suits, we're off to the Tigh -Na-Mara to relax in the Grotto Mineral Pool, invigorating cool-splash waterfall and whirlpool .
The Treetop Tapas & Grill at the Grotto Spa is home to a culinary experience unlike any other in Canada. Dine comfortably in your robe and sandals as they present a collection of tapas plates, featuring both local and international influences. Feel free to re-order anything you enjoyed, truly a decadent experience and should you desire, end with chocolate treats of all sorts.
We'll waddle back to our hotel (drive) for a well earned rest.
Todays ride we venture through quiet residential areas of Parksville to the next village of Qualicum Beach. Return approx 24 KM. Time to explore before we hop back on the bikes, destination Coombs Market.
Visit to Qualicum Cheese on route.
After our ride to Qualicum Village we'll ride towards Parksville to hop on the Rail Trail to Coombs.
Flat designated trail away from traffic.
Free time to explore/shop/eat.
AFter exploring Coombs, we'll load our bikes and visit Englishmen River Falls. Easy trail walk.
There are 3 km of maintained trails that wind through this majestic old growth and second growth forested park. Throughout Douglas fir, cedar, hemlock and maple trees are lookouts that provide views of the two waterfalls, an expansive gorge and a quiet canyon.
After a leisurly breakfast, let's go explore local Rathtrevor Beach on foot.
Majestic old-growth trees, beautiful ocean sunsets and an inviting, wide sandy beach with campsites nestled amongst mature Douglas fir trees makes Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park in Parksville one of the premier vacation destinations on Vancouver Island.
Let's have some giggles
on our last day.

We'd love to offer tours for less of course. However, we are at the mercy of the market place. Hotels, vehicles, fuel, Electric bikes, 2 local guides/drivers, food, activities are expensive on the Island. We have not increased any prices in fact many prices we are providing at cost. We also have added costs that you never see like insurance , licenses, gratuities for food servers on tour are mandatory 20% when in a group etc.
We offer top quality tours and the price is the price.

Day 1: Trails snacks, lunch, dinner
Day 2: Trails snacks, Breakfast, picnic lunch on trail, late snacks, dinner tonight will be endless tapas
Day 3: Breakfast, trail snacks, group dinner

Remember to bring your helmet and bike lock. ALL PENNIER BIKE BAGS & BASKETS NEED TO BE REMOVABLE. WE FOUND THESE BIKES DIFFICULT TO LOAD AND THEY TAKE UP VALUABLE SPACE.
No, not at all. The ride is flat and on dedicated bike lanes. Easily done with with a 7 speed bike or less.
Yes, while we still have costs to transport your bike, we can offer a $150 discount if you'd like to bring your own bike.
We can certainly add another night stay for you just let us know. We find many people have airmiles and such and want to arrange on their own.
We want you to have a great 4 days exploring. Each ride is at your own pace. if for any reason you feel you've had enough, don't worry. OUR GUIDE will be near in our broom Van to sweep you and your bike up. However on E-bikes and new scenery each ride is easily done. Again, at your pace. The ride is EASY level.
Absolutely! Time will be spent to ensure you're familiar with your bike and feel safe. We will spend time in parking lot practicing for a bit before we go on our first spin around Victoria.
This is a 4 day tour with many more fun thing to do. You can ride in the broom Van with our other guide, they'd be happy for the company. You'll meet riders at the next stop.
You're paying for your hotel room alone. Doubles share a room and costs.
Provided Covid protocols ease we would be happy to connect you with another single on tour, with their permission. We would suggest chatting and getting to know each other before deciding if this would be a fit for both of you. You may just meet a new life long pal.
Warning: If for any reason during tour you decide this is not a fit, sorry we can not adjust or refund costs. You would be required to seek out another room option on your own at your own expense.
You don't need fancy bike cloths but stretchy pants or shorts do make riding more comfortable. We are not the fashion police however we do recommend not wearing denim while riding, trust us on this. Keep your luggage to small small small did we mention SMALL. Storage space is limited. Remember we have 12 ladies, 12 bikes, 12 helmets to store first!
If you're currently an Ebike rider distance is not a concern. However newbies you will find your bum will give out far before your legs. Daily rides will vary from 30km to 50km, of course all rides are optional.
We have tried hard to keep costs down but as you know all things cost money, sharing costs with 10 people is what we have based our tour on. We will review closer to date and go from there. You will be kept in loop.
