10 ladies plus driver/guides
Colleen, owner of Island Time Tours fell in love with Ebike riding during Covid-19 downtime,.
While exploring all over Vancouver Island, finding safe trails, dedicated bike lanes away from traffic. 'I would love to share these great places" and decided to create a tours for like minded women.
This tour is designed for those that have also found the joy of riding a bike again, with little riding experience. Of course all skill levels welcomed you'll just have to pass us a few times!
The one thing you must be able to do is ride a bike to join this tour.
Bring your own bike, or we will arrange an E-bike for you.
Your bike does NOT have to be an Ebike as all routes are basically flat. Though a several speed option is recommended.
Most rides will be a minimum of 35 km per day. Easily done on E-bikes
Stopping along the way for the perfect picture and snacks.
Following near will be our vehicle for times when your bum has had it's limit, too much mountain ahead, too much wine, or too much fun!
We look forward to meeting you today.
Meet at the Hotel Grand Pacific where our office is (we'll be ready for you in the front of the hotel driveway)
Let's load our gear and head out to Langford (Luxton) where our ride begins.
The trail was created in 1987 after the rail line was abandoned and the tracks were removed.
A portion of the trail is also part of the Trans Canada Trail. The name of the trail (Galloping Goose) is based on the nickname of a gas-powered railcar that operated on the line in the 1920s.
Our first section of the ride is ~20Km, arriving into Sooke, here we will have lunch.
Along the trail we have so many great places to stop and take in the experience.
Forests, meadows, lakes, flora and fauna
After lunch we ride to Leechtown and back, 15 km each way. The return trip is slightly downhill easy 2% grade makes for quick return.
Time to get bikes organized, such as seat heights,
gear and rentals.
2 beds per room. Or Single rate available
FYI-this is the biggest cost of tour
This picturesque multi-use trail, formerly a railway line, moves through urban, rural and wilderness scenery. Easy flat trail with a couple of small hills, you can do it!
After our days ride we check into our ocean front hotel in Sooke.
Leechtown is a ghost town on the Southern end of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
On 18 July 1864 the Leech River was named and ‘payable’ gold was discovered by members of the Vancouver Island Exploring Expedition (VIEE), which led to a gold rush and the establishment of Leechtown. Now a park with no hints of the past.
We depart after an early breakfast.
Our ride starts today at the
Shawnigan Lake trail destination
So many great sights along the way.
We'll stop mid way for a picnic lunch.
Trestles, ponds, wildlife, water falls and more.
The Kinsol Trestle is one of eight trestles along the Cowichan Valley Trail route and by far the largest and most spectacular. The Kinsol Trestle is one of the tallest free-standing and most spectacular timber rail trestle structures in the world. At 187 metres in length and standing 44 metres above the salmon bearing Koksilah River, the Kinsol is an incredible structure.
This trail is super flat and filled with so much beauty on a dedicated trail.
After our day's ride we load up for tonights oceanfront hotel in Parksville.
We'll enjoy our oceanfront hotel before hopping back on the bikes.
The Rail Trail is less than 10KM each way flat designated trail away from traffic. We'll explore Parksville at your comfort level then hit the trail to Coombs.
Here we'll load our bikes into our trailer then its free time to explore this wonderful market place. Great food and shopping. Commonly known as Goats on the Roof Market.
On our way to the West Coast we have to stop and hug a few trees in this ancient forest.
Featuring a magnificent temperate rain forest with enormous 800+ year old trees, carpet of ferns and the canopy towers over us at 80 Metres high in places.

We'd love to offer tours for less of course. However, we are at the mercy of the market place. Hotels, vehicles, fuel, Electric bikes, 2 local guides/drivers, food, activities are expensive on the Island. We have not increased any prices in fact many prices we are providing at cost. We also have added costs that you never see like insurance , licenses, gratuities for food servers on tour are mandatory 20% when in a group etc.
We offer top quality tours and the price is the price.
TBA meals included
Snacks available, help yourself anytime.
Severe allergies please call to see if we can make it work
Trust me you won't go hungry, Colleen your guide likes her food. Any diet issues should not be a problem with notice.
No, we will arrange an Ebike from local bike company. Price is included in tour.
Each person will be required to sign documents to the rental from bike company.
Id & credit card required at time of pickup
Sure, just let us know. Remember to bring your helmet and bike lock. ALL PENNIER BIKE BAGS & BASKETS NEED TO BE REMOVABLE. WE FOUND THESE BIKES DIFFICULT TO LOAD AND THEY TAKE UP VALUABLE SPACE.
No, not at all. The ride is flat and on dedicated bike lanes. Easily done with with a 7 speed bike or less.
Yes, while we still have costs to transport your bike, we can offer a $150 discount if you'd like to bring your own bike.
We can certainly add another night stay for you just let us know. We find many people have airmiles and such and want to arrange on their own.
We want you to have a great 4 days exploring. Each ride is at your own pace. if for any reason you feel you've had enough, don't worry. OUR GUIDE will be near in our broom Van to sweep you and your bike up. However on E-bikes and new scenery each ride is easily done. Again, at your pace.
Absolutely! Time will be spent to ensure you're familiar with your bike and feel safe. We will spend time in parking lot practicing for a bit before we go on our first spin around Victoria.
This is a 5 day tour with many more fun thing to do. You can ride in the broom Van with our other guide, they'd be happy for the company. You'll meet riders at the next stop.
You're paying for your hotel room alone. Doubles share a room and costs.
Provided Covid protocols ease we would be happy to connect you with another single on tour, with their permission. We would suggest chatting and getting to know each other before deciding if this would be a fit for both of you. You may just meet a new life long pal.
Warning: If for any reason during tour you decide this is not a fit, sorry we can not adjust or refund costs. You would be required to seek out another room option on your own at your own expense.
You don't need fancy bike cloths but stretchy pants or shorts do make riding more comfortable. We are not the fashion police however we do recommend not wearing denim while riding, trust us on this. Keep your luggage to small small small did we mention SMALL. Storage space is limited. Remember we have 12 ladies, 12 bikes, 12 helmets to store first!
If you're currently an Ebike rider distance is not a concern. However newbies you will find your bum will give out far before your legs. Daily rides will vary from 30km to 50km, of course all rides are optional.
We have tried hard to keep costs down but as you know all things cost money, sharing costs with 10 people is what we have based our tour on. We will review closer to date and go from there. You will be kept in loop.
