Wine - WITH RESERVATIONS REQUIRED WE VISIT 3-4 WINERIES
Sightseeing along the quiet back roads, Cowichan’s riches begin to fully reveal themselves in rolling hills and lush fields. Our guide fills us in on the key local players and history of the region’s growing wine scene. The climate is surprisingly maritime Mediterranean, with warm and mild winters, making this a prime spot for producing fantastic Pinot Gris, Ortega, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. To the surprise of many, the valley is a haven for the more than 19 wine tasting rooms scattered around town (Second only to Okanagan as British Columbia’s highest wine producing region!).
Currently Covid-19 protocols are in place.
This limits access to wineries if/when they reach their capacity under health guidelines. We make reservations for the day, your guide will keep track of time, you relax, have fun and enjoy, you won't feel rushed but it's time to go when advised.
We have great relationships with all wineries, our flexibility is key.
This tour is an experience.
Each stop will vary, wine tasting at all. Due to Covid-19 most days tastings will be outside if not raining. Dress for the weather. We also provide blankets to cuddle up with.
It is truly a day to enjoy the beautiful Cowichan Valley, giggle with pals and indulge in great local food & wine.
Reservations are required. Passenger numbers will vary see our Covid-19 protocols 4 to 6 passengers currently.
We can't control the day with Covid-19 in the mix but we will do our very best to ensure you have a great day out.
You are going to love this day out!
Picture your day...our drive up to our first winery includes panoramic views. We'll stop at a local view point for pictures and offer you a fresh baked snack. We also take pictures of you throughout the day and text to you end of tour day. Relax, we look after everything. Please bring masks for times we can not distance, your guide will advise if/when required.
Our next stop features unique small batch wines. This winery is one of the very first group of 4 wineries to open in the late 1980's. Their place in this regions growing wine scene of Cowichan, is to continue to make small batch wines. Unique, interesting and really hard to make. Producing between of 500 - 900 cases of wine each year. This is often our guests favourite stops and along with wine you'll learn about Canada's top 10 food products. Authentic ancient Balsamic Vinegar AND taste it! So good! Wineries may vary due to harvest time or farm emergency.
LUNCH, We have a wonderful lunch kit prepared fresh daily from the local grocer with "farm to fork" local good food. They fill our lunch kit with all sorts of local cheese, meats, fruit. Even the biggest appetite is more than satisfied, many guests take leftovers back to their hotel room for late night snacks. Enjoy overlooking the picturesque vineyard with wine of course. We will take our time here to enjoy your lunch with wine. Feel free to purchase a glass of wine or bottle to share, you'll have plenty of time here. After lunch explore this award winning architectural designed tasting room. Take pictures inside and outside. Your guide is happy to meet you in the vineyard to take more photos before we head back to town.
Did someone say dessert? We might have some chocolate for a treat end of day.
